GIFT OF LIFE-AZ HAS REACHED THEIR GOAL OF SAVING 300 LIVES
Please let me introduce you to our 300th child, Katia from Sedona who had her corrective heart surgery in Tucson at the University of Arizona Medical Center on October 8th by Dr. Michael Teodori.
Katia is a 14 year old beautiful girl with a big smile, quiet demeanor, and who faced her heart surgery with the thought that this was going to save her life and provide her the opportunity for a normal and healthy life. She is in the 8th grade and wants to play basketball, and her favorite subject is social studies. As explained by Dr. Teodori, she had a hole in her heart a little larger than a quarter and the surgery was very successful in sewing up the hole as it was too large for a patch or a plug. It was caught in time before more damage could be done.
While mother and child were in Tucson, Rotary Club President Dave Gallaher and wife Susan Home Hosted them for just over a week. They couldn’t have been better, more concerned and welcoming hosts. On the night before the surgery, the Tucson RC provided a short get together so they could wish her and her mother the best for the surgery that was performed the next morning at 7 AM.
Our Gift of Life-AZ GOAL to achieve 300 heart interventions by end of this calendar year 2013 has been reached thanks to YOU! We are now focused on a waiting list of 11 needy children that we would like to complete by end of 2014. In summary, these 300 children have come from 24 countries of which now 29 are from here in Arizona.
Thank you for your support in helping us achieve the goal of 300 lives saved. We hope that you will continue your support with a donation to help us give the GIFT OF LIFE.
